Join Pete for a ride through racing history

The tracks, the cards, the drivers

When Pete became guardian of the SCCA's archives a few years ago, he turned his efforts from racing to preserving racing history. His articles appeared regularly in SportsCar magazine.  In 2004, he published his first book, Sixty-fives Years of the SCCA.  Three years later came the release of "Ghost Tracks"; in 2008 he released "The Gentlemen's Club".  His fourth book, "More Ghost Tracks" was released in 2009

Drivers and racing fans enjoy taking the ride down memory lane in Pete's books.  Here's what one 41-year racing veteran had to say about "Ghost Tracks".

"What memories you have written about. It really brings me back to the days when I started racing in the late sixties and at the tracks around the Midwest. What great pictures and copy about the past. Great Book. It will be a long treasure on our library shelves."

In fact,
"Ghost Tracks" seemed to spur everyone's drive through the past, and prompted many "what about my track" requests such as this one.

"Mr. Hylton does a great job, but oh man he has a bunch more to research and find.. Great book. Would really like to see more, particularly the old tracks in Colorado."

Requests such as this prompted an 18-month trek in search of "new" ghost tracks.  The result is
"More Ghost Tracks".

Not that it takes much of an excuse to get Pete out on the road in search of tracks. But then, his love of racing is apparent in every phase of his life, from his collection of vintage MG's to his family's home in the
Indianapolis suburb of Brownsburg.
The historic farm complex includes a home for his car collection and a bed and breakfast—The Old MG B&B.

An engineer and educator, Pete has devoted his life to motorsports. He began amateur racing in his teens, and now follows his daughter. A recognized writer, and speaker, he left the corporate world to develop a motorsports technology program at Indiana University/Purdue University Indiana.
